Vaasthu Sastra - The Main Door

Vaasthu Sastra - The Main Door

The Main Door and the Main Door Frame are considered as places of sanctity where Goddess Mahalakshmi resides. This Door Frameshould be installed with enough of sanctity and devotion and should be maintained with care.

The position of the Main Door in a house occupies predominant importance. As we have elsewhere seen, a house should be in a square or rectangle shape.

The Main Door can be on any of the four walls. A favourable direction as preferred in Astrology need not be looked into, In a house, only one individual is not going to live. There is going to be a family living there consisting a group of family members. Each family member will have different favourable direction as per his or her own horoscope. A direction favourable to one family member may not and can not be favourable to all in the family.

As such, looking into a favourable direction for the Main Door will not work out in its right perspective. Hence it is better to forget the favourable direction as per the horoscope.

Instead, installing the Main Door Frame and the Main Door facing any direction, should be favourable to all in the family.

Here, Vaasthu prescribes certain norms as to where the Main Door Frame should be installed on a wall, in whichever direction it is.

If the Main Door has to face the East or West direction, then the Main Door Frame should be installed somewhere on the Northern half of the wall.

If the Main Door has to face the North or South direction, then the Main Door Frame should be installed somewhere on the Eastern half of the Wall.

Installing the Main Door Frame on the exact centre of the wall is also alright, provided the North East Corner (called Easanya Moolai) or the South West Corner (called Nyruthi Moolai or Kanni Moolai or Kubera Moolai) are not disturbed.

(In any case, enough care should be taken that the North East or South West Corners are not affected or disturbed.)

I have mentioned that Goddess Mahalakshmi resides in the Main Door.

In order to honour Goddess Mahalakshmi, we should enrich the thresh hold and the Main Door Frame.

Genuine Precious Metals, Genuine Precious Stones and Coins should be spread on the thresh hold where the Main Door Frame is being installed.

In addition to the above, a small dollar carrying the image of Lord Maha Ganapathi and another small dollar carrying the image of Goddess Mahalakshmi should be fixed on either side of the thresh hold.

The procedure to be followed includes the above in installing the Main Door Frame, which should be performed on the most auspicious time called "Vaasthu Time", which occurs hardly for half an hour in a month and that too not in all the months
