Vaasthu Sastra - Brahmma Sthanam

Vaasthu Sastra - Brahmma Sthanam
The center part of the house is called Brahmma Sthanam. In villages and in old houses, we can see an open space - enough large as possible - is left open to sky.

This area is called "Muttram" in Tamil teminologies. This is Brahmma Sthanam. The center part of the house is left vacant and open to sky.

In modern constructions, it is difficult and rather impossible to leave the central place open to sky. This may also be a security hazard.

But, we can keep this place vacant or free from regular use - without much load put into it.

In the modern construction methods this is possible. Somehow we can spare a small pace in the centre of the house and allow it to be used as a passage.

Normally there is a belief that a Pooja Room is an appropriate application in the Brahmma Sthanam. This concept is wrong. A Pooja Room in the center of the house is not hamful - but keeping the center place vacant is more appropriate than keeping a Pooja Raaom in that place.

A Pooja Room can be kept in part of the house. There can be no restriction as to where God should be worshipped in a house. It can be anywhere in the house.

Some even conceive that the Pooja Room should be kept in the North East Corner, which is called Easanya Moolai.

This Corner (Easanya Moolai) is also a place which should normally be kept vacant without much of load on it.

As such, it is appropriate to keep the Pooja Room in some part of the house other than the Brahmma Sthanam and Easanya Moolai.

These two points should be kept vacant as far as possible. These two points can even be used as a passage.

The Brahmma Sthanam means the center part of the house or the madya pradesam of the house. For the reason that the name suggests Brahmmam, a Pooja Room is not a must in this place.

Every house construction is unique, which has to be decided taking into account the various aspects influencing the place, conveniences and construction feasibilities.

But Brahmma Sthanam and Easanya Moolai need not necessarily be the place for a Pooja Room for the reason that the name of the places suggest it.

The names of the places or corners need not necessarily be attached importance in recognising the importance of its applications. It is the character of the place or corner which have to be considered in their utility.

Hence, if you are of the idea that the Brahmma Sthanam (center of the house) is the appropriate place to keep the Pooja Room, shred out the very thinking. It is not the case
